The Washington State Human Rights Commission is the Washington's state equivalent of the federal EEOC.
As a designated Fair Employment Practices Agency (FEPA),
the Washington State Human Rights Commission may coordinate operations with the EEOC
under a work-share agreement. Furthermore, the Washington State Human Rights Commission
investigates state claims that are not covered by federal law or exceed the basic protections of federal law.
Individuals filing a charge of discrimination with the
EEOC should also file a copy of the charge with the Washington State Human Rights Commission.
