The New Jersey Division on Civil Rights is the New Jersey state equivalent of the federal EEOC. As a designated Fair Employment Practices Agency (FEPA), the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights may coordinate operations with the EEOC under a work-share agreement. Furthermore, the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights investigates state claims that are not covered by federal law or exceed the basic protections of federal law. Individuals filing a charge of discrimination with the EEOC should also file a copy of the charge with the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights.
