The Albuquerque Area EEOC Office has jurisdiction over Bernalillo, Catron, Chaves, Cibola, Colfax, Curry, De Baca, Guadalupe, Harding, Lincoln, Los Alamos, McKinley, Mora, Quay, Rio Arriba, Roosevelt, Sandoval, San Juan, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Socorro, Taos, Torrance, Union and Valencia counties. This is the same jurisdiction as the Phoenix District EEOC Office.

The New Mexico Human Rights Division is the New Mexico state equivalent of the federal EEOC. As a designated Fair Employment Practices Agency (FEPA), the New Mexico Human Rights Division may coordinate operations with the EEOC under a work-share agreement. Furthermore, the New Mexico Human Rights Division investigates state claims that are not covered by federal law or exceed the basic protections of federal law. Individuals filing a charge of discrimination with the EEOC should also file a copy of the charge with the New Mexico Human Rights Division on Civil Rights.
